Thank You Very Mulch Knights and Xylem!

A HandmaidKnights of Columbus, News, Priests Garden

This summer our monastery grounds received some long overdue TLC in the form of a mulch replacement project. Knights Jim Pickering and Ron Henry were able to obtain a donation of natural mulch from the Xylem Tree Care company based in Jefferson County which was delivered over the course of June and July. Knight Jimmy Dee used his tractor to further disperse the mulch piles to the many beds which lightened the workload substantially for the day of hand spreading. Jim and Ron, meanwhile, coordinated the efforts of four Councils from surrounding parishes to spread the mulch on August 1st.

Callaway Ridge Road was a beehive of activity full of cars and trucks, tools, rakes, wheel barrows and over 20 Knights and family volunteers. Despite a rainy, foggy day they tackled the piles and spread the gift of mulch over nine large garden bed areas. The Mary, Mother of Priests Tribute Garden; Mater Dei House beds, Saint Joseph Hermitage, Our Lady of Guadalupe House, the main lawn and the upper gate bed were all vastly improved with a healthy topping of deep mulch.

We placed envelopes of prayer requests received from the volunteers beneath the high altar. The best thing we can do for anyone is to pray for their needs and intentions.

Our deepest thanks for the gift of the natural mulch and ‘sweat equity’ in the hard working hands of our dear benefactors. Please enjoy the photos and pray especially in gratitude for all the gifts we have been given.
