The Handmaids of the Precious Blood are a cloistered contemplative community of pontifical status. Founded on Pentecost Sunday, May 25, 1947, by Father Gerald M.C. Fitzgerald, s.P., the community is dedicated to prayer and sacrifice for the sanctification of priests.
Their life is centered on Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist and includes the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, personal prayer, spiritual reading, silence, and community life.
From Cor Jesu Monastery in New Market, Tennessee, the Handmaids continue their hidden apostolate for priests and for the needs of the Church and the world.
