Archive Treasures: Easter Eggs

A HandmaidDiamond Jubilee, News

Sample of Sister Mary Patricia’s artistry using a styrofoam egg and icing. The size of an actual egg.

Now that Easter has arrived, it seems a good time to think about eggs, including in the archives. We share just one photo of the many hand crafted eggs that graced the refectory over the decades. Using a small styrofoam egg, Sister Mary Patricia, created ornate miniature roses and designs out of icing, lace, sequins and anything she could find. Her skills also did the same in creating tiny roses for flower baskets. Like many of her Handmaid sisters, she could honor God by turning her crafting talents to something beautiful for the Lord.
