The image gives us a quote from our Founder, Father Gerald, about the vows his spiritual daughters take. They are not for the armchair. They are for the crucifix. That’s the way we learn the Love of the Lord best; by imitating him in his Passion, Death, and Resurrection. The photo captures a Handmaid of the Precious Blood taking in a gorgeous sunrise yet still close to and touching the cross. There is beauty in both sky and crossbeam.
When Jesus sends us his perfect crosses in our lives, it’s natural to shrink from them. It’s only human. But he wants us to do more than that. God wants us to trust him that his grace will always be enough for our cross. We learn to do that with practice and Lent is the perfect time to hone the skill of hanging onto the cross in love.
