Knights of Columbus To The Rescue!
On September 19th, 2015 a significant step was completed in the move of our old library to the new Cor Jesu Monastery when nearly 6,000 books were carried from our storage area into the still-to-be-assembled library areas of the building. Knights and Knights-to-be came from Sacred Heart Cathedral for the all day moving marathon. It included not only the boxes of books but plenty of furniture, including large kitchen appliances like fridges and freezers and plenty of staircases and steps to challenge their incredible energy level. The only thing greater than these volunteers’ stamina and endurance was their joyful charity. Our grateful prayers for all their needs and intentions and those of Knights of Columbus everywhere. God bless you all!
Thank you José, Chester, Salvador, Benjamin, Felipe, Scott, and Jimmy! May God reward you with more than a good night’s sleep after a long day of hard labor!
- Handmaids sort books for eventual placement.
- Each of the 144 boxes was marked with a number or letter telling the men where it should be placed. These were the only four shelves (came with the house) ready to take books.
- Library Map…except there weren’t any shelves assembled…
- First truckload from the storage shed arrives with boxes marked by location.
- Boxes of Scripture books halfway to their destination in the long book conveyor belt.
- Making It Look Easy. Knights pass books up the steep stairs effortlessly.
- Not content with moving nearly 6000 books, they moved furniture as well INCLUDING a large refridgerator and a large freezer!
- Still smiling after all the hard work!
