As we shared earlier, we are advertising on behalf of a little group of kittens born last month to a beautiful black vixen of a wee cat. God’s Providence has it that we are currently fostering them “pro tem” in one cell. That has provided lots of education for us on new born kittens and their special care and development.
Did you know that a bunch of related sibling kittens may be called a litter but also has some lesser known appellations (at least to us) such as a clutter (makes sense when you clean up around them with their toys), a kindle (they like warmth), a glaring (although this term sounds much more adult cat-like).
They have grown past the initial ear opening, eye opening, wobbling, crawling stage and came to us with open ears and blue eyes and all velcro-like claws. Now, they have largely all advanced to running, jumping, climbing, playing, tackling, wrestling. We are no longer large wine-red scary monsters to them and they run to greet us and enjoy being held or played with. Litter box 101 is underway and some are showing signs of their adult eye color beginning. We are guessing yellow or green based on Mom. Their individual personalities are also coming alive.
Brother (mottled black back) and Sister (grey tiger stripes) tender and loving towards each other as all siblings are, right?
The two males (one semi grey tiger striped with a largely black back and the other black) seem to have decided that life (after feeding) consists only of wrestling each other and sleeping. They are energetic and fearless. And only stationary when asleep. The females are 2 black and one grey tiger stripe. They too can romp about but less so than their brothers. One, likely the runt, is more passive.

All of them have had their first baths and behaved wonderfully and docilely. We are introducing them to various handling (pretend claw clipping, combing, lap time) actions to acclimate them to humans. We jest of having to consider kitten time “penance” when it’s actually fun.
