For many under a variety of COVID-19 necessitated curfew, shelter in place, lock down, stay at home, or safer at home directives during the pandemic, it is doubly difficult adapting to unprecedented ways of doing things from home while your spiritual nourishment is also impacted. The lack of public Mass anywhere and, in some places, the complete closure of Churches altogether, deprives the faithful of the physical closeness and reception of the Eucharist, the Source and Summit of our Faith.
We want you to know we are praying for you and in your place before Our Lord. And we want to share some suggestions for spiritual reading and study right from our monastery library. Given that lack of access to the Blessed Sacrament is a great trial for so many devout Catholics, we thought a good book to start with is this one: The Eucharist: Mystery of Presence, Sacrifice, and Communion by Dr. Lawrence Feingold. It is a wonderful one volume textbook written so well, one easily forgets it is a textbook as the truths Dr. Feingold elucidates so beautifully naturally inspire prayers of gratitude to God for the gift of himself in the Eucharist.
