Derecho Storm

A Handmaid News

Like many folks along and anywhere near the 1000+ mile path of the recent derecho, we experienced an abundance of downed trees, power outages, downed lines etc. We want to thank God, first of all, that no one at Cor Jesu was injured or no structures were heavily damaged. Great thanks to the response of the Jefferson Country road crews clearing Callaway Ridge and Appalachian Electric Co-op for repairing the downed lines and restoring electricity. We must also thank our Knights in Shining Chainsaws…the Knights of Columbus who worked hard to clear the roads in between our buildings.

While we loved the intimate silence and candlelight (and flashlight) holy hours and meals we are very happy to have power again.
