Council of Catholic Women Convention

A Handmaid Monastery, News

The Diocese of Knoxville’s Council of Catholic Women Convention met at Holy Trinity Parish from April 14th – 16th in Jefferson City and we were happy to participate by sending one Handmaid as a representative of our Community. With special permission, Sister was able to attend and display a table about our mission in the Church and our project to build the first cloistered monastery in East Tennessee. Bishop Stika made all attending feel welcome and at home and encouraged the generous women of the local Councils to help prayerfully support our apostolate of praying for priests.  A particular treat was not only meeting all these wonderful ladies, but learning about all their work to support the Church and those in need in the area. The national representative, Beth Mahoney, gave a beautiful talk that our Sister was able to recount for the rest of us. She also provided us a summary of the three talks were given by the cooking priest, Father Leo Patalinghug, which everyone enjoyed tremendously. Sister assured Father Leo, a member of Voluntas Dei, of our ardent prayers for himself and his unique ministry. (And she really enjoyed his cooking!)

Thank you, Bishop Stika, for allowing us to share in a great Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention to meet some of the names and faces behind the strong Catholic faith that is so vibrant in this area. We share a few photos we were able to acquire from the weekend and promise all our prayers for success in their endeavors.
