We are not only happy to congratulate Scott Maentz on his ordination to the Permanent Diaconate, but we are grateful we could participate a little. Obviously, we have accompanied Deacon Scott and his wife, Christine, with our prayers for some time and planned to do so especially on June 11th, 2016. But it was an additional honor to have a trio of Handmaids again represent the community at an ordination. Not only that, but, as Scott is our Communications Director, he requested permission for Rev. Mother Marietta to vest him. Bishop Stika graciously granted the request.
We have been privileged to know some of these candidates and knowing they represent only a slice of the class, we can well estimate the generous caliber of the rest of these men and their families. To see them lying prostrate across and along the length of the cathedral, ready to solemnly give themselves to the service of the Church and the Gospel, is deeply moving and inspiring. We are so grateful for them and their witness. May God bless them, their families, and the ministries they now embark upon.
