Two Resurrections for Easter?
Easter Sunday of 2015 took on an extra special air of celebration as we enjoyed a short notice visit by our Shepherd, Bishop Richard F. Stika in the evening. Lent had been punctuated by Bishop Stika’s emergency hospitalization on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, March 25th during which everyone was storming heaven for his recovery. True to form, Our Lady took particular care of her priest son and returned him to his episcopal ministry just in time for Holy Week. Only two days out of the hospital, he was able to celebrate the Chrism Mass with his priests. Despite the recent brush with death, he took the time and effort to share supper with us on Easter Sunday. We are so grateful to Mary, Mother of Priests for giving him back to us as our Bishop once again and allowing us this grace filled time with him to reflect on his resurrection in the light of The Resurrection.
We had a delightful time, including more instructions and demonstrations in what a “selfie” is. Eventually we may learn where to stand and what to actually look at when the photo is taken.
Thank you Jesus and Mary for saving our Bishop!
